Scientific topics currently studied around these accelerators

The scientific thematics developed around JANNUS can be classified into three categories: nuclear materials in present and future, nanoscience and higher education.

  • Evolution under irradiation of the microstructure of nuclear materials for existing and future metal alloys, ceramics and composites for structure, ceramic fuel cladding materials.
  • Combined effects: damage / production of helium and hydrogen.
  • Evolution under irradiation of confinement materials for nuclear waste and transmutation targets.
  • Phenomena of atomic transport under irradiation.
  • Controlled modification of material properties by implantation / irradiation.
  • Education and training around accelerators (ion interaction / material analysis by ion beams, irradiation physics).
